The Door to Somewhere Digital Kit (for international participants)
We’ve had a number of requests from makers outside the U.S. who want to participate in Creatin’ 2.0.
While we aren’t able to ship physical kits internationally, we’re offering a digital version so you can build alongside everyone else.
This digital download includes the core components of The Door to Somewhere kit:
-
Wall + two base pieces (SVG files for laser cutting)
-
Turntable (STL file for 3D printing) and link to purchase pre-made
The kit—physical or digital—is part of the constraint of the challenge. Everyone starts from the same foundation, and that shared starting point is what makes the outcomes so interesting. For that reason, the digital kit is priced in line with the physical version. In future years, we will consider a different pricing structure.
A note on participation
International makers are very welcome to build and share their work, and submissions will be featured on Instagram and the website.
But, due to legal constraints, prizes are limited to U.S.-based participants.
File details
The SVG files are designed for use on a laser cutter, and the notches are sized for 1/8” MDF. Notch sizes may need to be adjusted based on your material thickness.
In the physical kits, the bottom base piece (with circular hole) is ¼” MDF to add more stability to the base and conceal the turntable.
The turntable is designed to be printed on a filament 3D printer. I use a Bambu P1S with a .4 nozzle and print at a .16 mm high quality setting.
If you prefer not to print your own, you can also use a 4 inch turntable from Amazon. This is the same one we used: https://amzn.to/4vW9srq
